- Breathe for Me - I'm getting a Placebo-like vibe here, only with
heavier guitars. This is a band that successfully bridges the gap
between celebrated melodic rockers such as Swervedriver and label
mates, Breed 77 and the album has a early 90's feel to it. Alive
is a great song, a mellow sound with a big chorus. Silence when
you're burning -a big sound again, lots of guitars and melodic lead
that combines together to make a noise. The song is well crafted,
swayable, but not a mosher, which is how I feel about the album.
They don't sound all that happy either. |

BEARTOWN
- It opens in cracking style with the band's single "Breathe,"
a pounding, catchy track that could fool the unwary into thinking
"Placebo." You can fool the unwary into thinking lots
of things, though. Did you know the word gullible isn't in any
dictionary? None of the other tracks sound like Placebo, but other
bands do spring to mind, chiefly in the opening riffs: A, Nirvana,
Feeder, Lostprophets; any number of pop guitar bands, really.

- A big sound from these Placebo sounding rockers, lots of guitars
and melodic lead that combines together to make a loud noise. The
song is well crafted, swayable, but not a mosher. They don't sound
all that happy either. |
XFM Online
- After the success of "Breathe For Me" and "The Way You Hate Me",
young Brit rockers Happylife warm up for the release of their debut
album "Sweet Resort" with single number three. Not a million miles
away from early Placebo and a nascent Muse, and while Kevin Brown's
vocals may not be as distinguished as either of those band's frontmen,
the guitars are at least willing to make a good fist of it.

- "Silence When You're Burning" is a super smooth slice of rock
from one of Britain's brightest new acts. Taken from their forthcoming
debut album, it marks Happylife out as one of the bands to look
out for in 2004 and beyond. |
MANCHESTER
MUSIC - "Silence When You're Burning" is the sound of Happylife
striking gold with their pulsating, passionate and infectious brand
of alt.nu.rock. The guitar break is the telling sign of quality.
A short interspersing spasm that divides two cycles of the hook
drenched chorus.

LOGO MAGAZINE
- "Show me a white boy who can sing like a black man and Ill
make a million dollars." So claimed Sam Phillips before he met Elvis.
"Show me a rock band that can appeal to a boy-band audience and
I'll make them a laughing stock."

- You can now pick up a copy of Happylifes The Way You
Hate Me on Albert Music, which flaps about faintly charmingly
somewhere betwixt Feeder (on the rockly warm of voice and sternly
melodic front) and Doves.

NOISE-ONLINE
- With British metal going through something of a whiny period at
the moment, it's good to hear a band who are willing to belt it
out, as happylife do on this, their debut single.

With strong tours supporting Rueben and Blondie currently hitting
every corner of Great Britain, Happylife are slowly making a name
for themselves as they build an impressive fan base and gain plaudits
from critics and crowds.

- Happylife sound like Feeder may have done now if they had held
to the promise of their early work. It's heavy, hard-edged and melodic
with a nod to early nineties guitar rock. |
METAL
MAYHEM - Happylife are a must for fans of bands like Feeder
and Placebo.
"Breathe for Me" is the bands debut single, and if these
couple of songs are anything to go by, their debut album is going
to be an absolute classic.

BLOG CRITICS
- Poppy atmospheric rock are what happylife deliver in abundance.
The title track is a great bit of pop rock tomfoolery.

MANCHESTER
MUSIC - The first thing that strikes you about HAPPYLIFE is
that 'Breathe For Me' sounds incredibly like Placebo. This isn't
a bad thing.

ROCK CITY
- This could be yet another English rock band to be proud of. Happylife
on the first listen to this single is very very 'Placebo' so if
you love them you'll love this, but fear not if you don't love 'Placebo';
because the other tracks on this disk show off a different perspective
and musical angle and it really is very good.
